News: Evoga character designer found

by on June 13, 2007

dragonillustrated.jpgGood old Juan was browsing deviantart, and found the page of Mario Vargas, who was director and character designer at Evoga. If you don’t remember Evoga, they were the Mexican company that SNK Playmore (then just Playmore) farmed out aspects of Rage of the Dragons and E.S. Evolution Soccer. Actually, it looks like Evoga is back from bankruptcy and planning a new version of their soccer arcade series, but it’s hard to tell for sure.

Regardless, Vargas was the character designer, and you can see his designs pretty clearly on the page. This poster of female variations of all Rage of the Dragons characters is particularly neat to see. Evoga has a soft spot in our hearts here, because during insert credit’s first week, we discussed their game several times. Vargas seems to be starting something new himself (perhaps just a portfolio site) called made in hell studio. Keep watching – we may have an interview with him in the future!
